Here are the grades for the Georgia football program’s 2022Ā recruiting class through Early Signing Day.

The Georgia football program continues to marvel on the recruiting trails under head coach Kirby Smart.

For the fifth straight year, Georgia will be playing in a New Year’s Six bowl. Even better, the Dawgs have made the College Football Playoff for the second time under Smart. It is no coincidence with Georgia being a top-five program in the country. The Dawgs crush it on the recruiting trails unlike most schools in the Power Five. Eventually, one would think this would translate into a national title.

Here are the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2022 cycle and how Georgia fared this year.

Georgia football top 2022 recruit: Malaki Starks, ATH, Jefferson, Jefferson, GA (No. 14 nationally, No. 1 position, No. 2 state)

Malaki Starks may not have a position per se coming out of Jefferson, Georgia, but he is going to be an impactful player upon arrival in Athens. Though outgoing defensive coordinator Dan Lanning was his primary recruiter, him having defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae suggests Starks will be playing on that side of the ball. The belief is Starks will become a tackling machine at linebacker.

Georgia football recruiting strengths and weaknesses for 2022

Georgia seems to have recruited very well at key positions on both sides of the ball. The Dawgs hit on all levels defensively, adding playmakers at quarterback, running back and tight end on offense. Where this recruiting class does seem to be lacking a bit is at one of the most important positions. They did not land a single offensive lineman among the top 300 recruits for the entire 2022 class.

Diamond in the rough for Georgia football: Cole Speer: WR, Calhoun, Calhoun, CA (No 691 nationally, No. 98 position, No. 66 state)

Cole SpeerĀ is an underrecruited three-star wide receiver out of Calhoun, Georgia. While the Dawgs typically get quality players from Calhoun on the regular, Speer has the potential to be his class’ version of Ladd McConkey. That is a huge comparison to be drawn to, but McConkey is the new standard for underrecruited inside the State of Georgia’s borders. Speer probably has to redshirt.

Where does Georgia football rank nationally and in the SEC in recruiting?

Georgia put together an elite recruiting class that will keep the Dawgs in the national title conversation for the foreseeable future. They rank second nationally and second in the SEC, trailing only the perpetual nemesis that is the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Georgia football 2022 recruiting grade

Though the Dawgs may not have exited Early Signing Day with the No. 1 class in the land, Georgia is one again a fixture in the top five. When a program is bringing as much talent as Georgia is regularly, it is hard to not give them an outstanding grade for their efforts on the recruiting trails.
