The 2022 Ohio State football recruiting class will keep up the momentum for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes with a strong mix of bright talent.

The Ohio State Buckeyes fell short of their goal of winning the Big Ten and getting to the College Football Playoff in 2021 but they can still end the year well by locking in another top recruiting class.

Ryan Day and his staff have done excellent work putting together a class that should reinforce the Buckeyes at key positions.

Who stands out in the class and how does it measure up?

Ohio State football recruiting: C.J. Hicks is the top commit for 2022

Five-star linebacker C.J. Hicks is the highest-ranked player in Ohio State’s class of 2022. He had 125 tackles and 23 tackles for loss as a senior at Archbishop Alter in Dayton. As the No. 1 prospect in Ohio, he seems tailormade for the Buckeyes and they made sure he isn’t leaving the state.

Ohio State football recruiting: Ryan Turner is a 2022 diamond in the rough

Two players from Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Florida but Kenyatta Jackson, the four-star edge rusher, has generated the biggest headlines. Don’t overlook his teammate Ryan Turner. He ranks No. 333 national as a four-star cornerback and has solid measurables for the position. He was a key part of a defense that won the 3A State Championship.

Ohio State football recruiting: Strongest and weakest position groups

The Buckeye defensive is getting some major additions, particularly at linebacker with four-star Gabe Powers joining Hicks.

On offense, the wide receiver corps will get an injection with four Top 150 pass catchers headlined by Caleb Burton from Texas.

The class is well-balanced so there aren’t a lot of weaknesses.
