The Penn State Nittany Lions are set to have a solid National Signing Day on Wednesday, Dec. 15.
The Penn State Nittany Lions may not have made it to the Big Ten Championship Game, but they will be playing in the Outback Bowl against the Arkansas Razorbacks. They did make some news this week, as they hired former Miami Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz as their new defensive coordinator after Brent Pry took the Virginia Tech head coaching job.

Penn State football top 2022 recruit: Drew Allar, QB (Medina, OH)
The Nittany Lions secured the commitment of one of the top five quarterbacks in the nation. Drew Allar of Medina, OH received a five-star rating by 247 Sports Composite, and is their lone recruit to receive that rating. Allar is ranked as the fourth-best prospect at his position.
Penn State football recruiting strengths and weaknesses
When looking at strengths, it is hard to gloss over the quarterback position since they got Allar to commit. As for a weakness, cornerback comes to mind. The Nittany Lions received one commitment, four-star recruit Cam Miller, who ranks 33rd at his position.
Diamond in the rough for Penn State football: Andre Roye, OT (Baltimore, MD)
A diamond in the rough in the Nittany Lionsā 2022 recruiting class is St. Frances Academy offensive tackle Andre Roye. He is a three-star recruit ranking 755th in the nation by 247 Sports. Roye did receive 13 other offers from programs before ultimately committing to the Nittany Lions this past September.
Where does Penn State football rank nationally and in the Big Ten in recruiting?
Penn State has to feel great off of their recruiting rankings. When it comes to the other teams in the nation, the Nittany Lions are ranked sixth-overall. Penn State has the second-best recruiting class in the Big Ten conference, falling behind Ohio State.

The Nittany Lions secured one of the top quarterback recruits in the country and brought in 15 four-star prospects. Given that the program has the sixth-best recruiting class in the nation, they get an easy A.
