Urban Meyer was fired by the Jaguars in the dead of night on Wednesday but Twitter was still awake to fire off their takes.
Urban Meyer is out as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars after less than a season.
Meyer’s tenure was marred by scandal and dysfunction well above the call of duty for even a two-win team. Thus, the Jaguars are now looking for a replacement less than a year after being in the same situation.
But of course, even with the late hour of Meyer’s firing, people on Twitter were having fun at his expense.

that’s truly amazing
Shad Khan had no choice but to fire Urban Meyer. He went on record in October saying "You have to regain our trust." All that's happened is the EXACT OPPOSITE. If Khan didn't, he looks like the parent/coach who threatens punishment for bad behavior but won't follow through w/it.

Totally disappointed we didn't get a chance to see Urban Meyer get Spreewell'd before he got fired. We were a week or two away from us seeing this go down and having the footage to laugh at. @Jaguars Yall let me down.

Jaguars fans didn't deserve Urban Meyer. It was on Shad to make the call and he did the right thing.

Urban did so much damage that signing a Binghamton Rumble Ponies outfielder to play tight end is a mere footnote of the tenure.

Urban Meyer’s Jaguars tenure was so bad, it makes the NFL careers of Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier look like those of Bill Belichick and Vince Lombardi by comparison.

Some of Meyer’s highlights in Jacksonville included staying behind in Ohio as the team flew back home to go to a bar (and seemingly participate in some extra-curricular activities), inexplicably benching running back James Robinson against the wishes of quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and reportedly questioning the qualifications of his position coaches and calling them “losers.”
All those “losers” still have jobs as of late Wednesday night, though — including offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who will serve as the interim head coach in Jacksonville.
Perhaps the last issue that led to this, though, was a report that Meyer kicked former Jaguars place-kicker Josh Lambo during warmups over missing an attempt in the previous preseason game this August.
Regardless, the Jags have now hit the reset button hard.
