Eagles fans get hopeful update on Jalen Hurts, especially after postponement
The Philadelphia Eagles look likely to get quarterback Jalen Hurts back on the field for the WFT game, especially after it was postponed.
The Eagles are getting the short end of the stick in many ways with regard to their postponed game against the Washington Football Team.
In other ways, the delay from Sunday to Tuesday could work in Philadelphia’s favor.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts was able to practice on Friday and could be ready to play by the time the game comes around two days later than expected.
Jalen Hurts injury update: Eagles QB could play vs. WFT
“He was great,” head coach Nick Sirianni said, per Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “He’s, obviously, been in this mentally all week and ready to go all week, you know, preparing like he’s going all week, so I thought he had a great practice today.”
The Eagles don’t want to rush Hurts back prematurely, so the two extra days of preparation could be key to seeing him start against Washington.
Hurts injured his ankle in Week 12 against the Giants. He missed the Week 13 win over the Jets and got the luck of a bye to continue his recovery last week.
The 23-year-old is 5-7 in 12 starts this year with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Gardner Minshew stepped in for him against New York and should be available to stand in again if Hurts hits a hurdle on his way to a return.
Philadelphia and Washington are scheduled to kick off on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. ET after a delay because of major COVID issues for the WFT.
