The New England Patriots first half against the Indianapolis Colts can best be described as one to forget.

The New England Patriots looked to regain the top seed in the AFC with a win over the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday. They were in this position following the Kansas City Chiefs’ overtime win over the Los Angeles Chargers this past Thursday. Early on, things were not going well for New England.

In the first half, quarterback Mac Jones handed the ball off to running back Rhamondre Stevenson. The 2021 fourth-round draft pick was tackled for a loss, but not by a member of the Colts defense. Rather, Stevenson was hit by offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn.

Take a look for yourselves.

Yeah, that was not what head coach Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels drew up when calling this play.

Indianapolis showed up for the challenge on Saturday night, as they took an early 7-0 lead on a touchdown pass from quarterback Carson Wentz to running back Nyheim Hines. But, they further extended said lead after they blocked a New England punt and E.J. Speed recovered the ball in the end zone for the touchdown.

Not the greatest start for the Patriots.

Next. Steelers’ offensive issues might go far beyond just Ben Roethlisberger. dark
