12. Mike Singletary

In terms of the all-time great Bears, Mike Singletary has to be near the top of the list.

Singletary is one of the greatest linebackers of all time, and was the top player on the best defense in NFL history. The Bears didn’t earn the moniker of “The Monsters of the Midway” for nothing- they would hit you as hard as humanly possible- SIngletary especially.

In their historic run in 1985, the Bears set a ton of single-season records en route to winning the Super Bowl. Amongst the most impressive and notable feats was the fact that the Bears had a three game stretch in which they allowed three total points, including consecutive shutouts. Singletary was named Defensive Player of the Year in 1985, cementing himself as the cream of the crop for the NFL’s best defense.

Singletary would win the award once again in 1988. He was a 10-time Pro Bowler and a seven-time All-Pro. Singletary is also a member of the 1980s All-Decade Team, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998. Fans remember him for his crazy eyes- his former opponents remember him for the lumps he gave them and the bruises they’d wake up with the next morning.
