Notre Dame football could be targeting former USC quarterback
By Ethan Lee
Are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish trying to secure the services of a former USC Trojans quarterback who is now in the transfer portal?
The transfer portal is arguably one of the best ways for any college football team to go out and improve its ability to win immediately. That’s especially true when it comes to quarterbacks. It seems like blue bloods like the Notre Dame football program are taking notice of the opportunity to see some quick improvements.
With former USC Trojans quarterback Kedon Slovis searching for his next team, it appears as if the Notre Dame Fighting Irish might be interested in him.
During an interview with the Trojan Talk podcast, Slovis apparently said Notre Dame had reached out to him after he entered the transfer portal, according to a tweet from Pete Sampson of The Athletic.
Notre Dame football: Will Fighting Irish try to get former USC Trojan Kedon Slovis to join Notre Dame football team?
Will Slovis join the Notre Dame football team? That remains to be seen. But, in the right sort of offense (such as the Air Raid), Slovis has demonstrated that he can potentially be dangerous. He just needs to show that he can be consistent.
In his time at USC, Slovis threw for 7,576 yards and 58 touchdowns against 24 interceptions while completing 68.4 percent of his passes. However, Slovis’ best season came in 2019 when he threw for 3,502 yards and 30 touchdowns against nine picks.
He hasn’t quite been that great since then.
But, that doesn’t mean Slovis couldn’t find success elsewhere. There were many things that were going on with USC that were outside of Slovis’ control. Maybe Notre Dame could be the right fit for him.
