Houston Texans: Jadeveon Clowney

This one isn’t even a competition. In terms of someone getting a ton of hype off of one play, Clowney absolutely takes the gold medal.

He was great in college, that isn’t a debate. He made a great tackle on a Michigan running back and it was a viral hit and he has parlayed that into getting multiple chances in the NFL- that also isn’t a debate.

Clowney benefited from playing with J.J. Watt in Houston. He made it to three Pro Bowls while with the Texans, and racked up 9.5 sacks in 2017. He was rumored to want elite edge rusher money, hoping to get $17 million per year on his next contract. He signed one year deals with Seattle and Tennessee in 2019 and 2020, respectively, before landing with the Browns in 2021.

Sacks aren’t everything when it comes to being a good pass rusher, but Clowney just isn’t a go-to edge rusher in the NFL. He went without a sack in eight games in 2020 with the Titans. He is seeming to find his way very nicely as a compliment to Myles Garrett in Cleveland, but by no means is he an elite edge rusher.
