Kansas City Chiefs: Alex Smith

This is nothing against Alex Smith. He put together a very good career for himself, and he was actually really solid with the Chiefs. He was a three-time Pro Bowler over his duration with the Chiefs. That said, name the big game he won while he was in Kansas City.

The Chiefs were on the wrong end of an epic comeback win in the playoffs by Andrew Luck and the Colts. The Chiefs led 38-10 at one point before Luck and the Colts stormed back to win 45-44. That was Smith’s first playoff game with the Chiefs, and it would be a peak into what was to come throughout his time with Kansas City.

Kansas City went 1-4 in the playoffs with Smith under center. Whether it was giving up large comebacks to the Colts, or losing at home to the Steelers and Titans, the Chiefs just couldn’t get over the hump.

Smith was a good quarterback, but it’s very telling that Kansas City made it to three consecutive AFC Championship Games and won a Super Bowl immediately after he left. He was good, but in a lot of ways, he held the Chiefs back from their full potential.
