Buffalo Bills: Don Beebe

Every team has a select few players in their history that become cult favorites among the fans. Don Beebe is the definition of fan favorite when it comes to the Buffalo Bills.

He is most remembered for being the one who chased down Leon Lett to prevent a touchdown in the Bills Super Bowl loss to Dallas, but outside of that, Beebe didn’t have many memorable plays. He was never a Pro Bowl receiver, he wasn’t in the conversation for the best in the game at any point- he was just a solid depth piece that the fans rallied around.

Even for a cult favorite, though, his numbers were never all that good. The most receptions he had in a season was 40 in 1994, and the most yards he totaled was 699 in 1996 with Green Bay.

This could be seen as somewhat of a reach to people outside of Buffalo, but Beebe is seen as a legend in Northern New York. He totaled only 219 catches in his career and just over 3,400 yards. He wasn’t anything fantastic, but ask Bills fans how they feel about him, and they will talk him up like he’s one of the best to ever play.
