Shane Beamer, Mack Brown quotes on potentially taking a Duke’s Mayo Bowl bath for the winning team
By John Buhler
Shane Beamer and Mack Brown are so down with getting covered in mayo after winning the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
Not only are Shane Beamer and Mack Brown cool with taking a tub of mayonnaise to the dome after winning the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, but these two Power Five coaches have provided the college football world with two incredible quotes ahead of their must-see bowl game.
Beamer offered this if his South Carolina Gamecocks prove victorious in Charlotte: “I’m not a big mayonnaise guy. I mean, I’ll gladly take one for the team on that one if it means we won a football game, but woof.”
As for Brown, the North Carolina Tar Heels head coach was a little more deadpan with his epic quote: “If we won a game, I’d let someone hit me in the face with a frying pan … I don’t care.”
The question remains: Do we want to see Beamer “take one for the team” or Brown undergo the equivalent of letting someone hit him in the face with a frying pan, but with mayonnaise?
Duke’s Mayo Bowl: Shane Beamer, Mack Brown’s quotes on the mayo bath
While this is only a bowl game between two 6-6 teams, no bowl game outside of the College Football Playoff will be as anticipated as this one. Last year, Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst did not partake in the mayo bath after his Badgers beat Wake Forest. Not only did the deprive us of elite video content, but those rambunctious Badgers broke the dang trophy celebrating the win.
Not only should Wisconsin never be invited back, but this bowl needs a new trophy. For the sake of branding, this newfangled trophy should feature the likeness of the winning head coach of next Thursday’s bowl game getting scattered, smothered and covered in Duke’s Mayo. Future winners of this game must carry on the tradition and proudly hoist the Beamer-Brown Mayo Trophy.
The hype of this bowl game can only be exceeded by the unforgettable Flint, Michigan Mega Bowl!
