Florida WR Justin Shorter carted off after frightening hit in Gasparilla Bowl

Florida Gators wide receiver Justin Shorter was carted off the field in the Gasparilla Bowl after taking a terrifying hit.
The Florida Gators looked to end their season on a high note with a victory over the UCF Knights in the Gasparilla Bowl. The result of the game took a backseat due to the injury suffered by Gators wide receiver Justin Shorter.
With a little over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, quarterback Emory Jones targeted Shorter down the sidelines. As Shorter went up for the catch, he took a nasty hit. The junior wide receiver received attention from medical staff, and members of both teams watched on while taking a knee. Shorter was eventually carted off the field.

There is a bit of good news to share. ESPN reported that Shorter was heard speaking with Florida’s trainers after the hit.
Entering the Gasparilla Bowl, Shorter had recorded 38 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns through 11 games. Prior to the injury, Shorter caught three passes from Jones for 54 yards, with his longest reception being 20 yards.
