2022 NFL Mock Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars overtake Detroit for No. 1 overall pick
By Brad Weiss
Picks No. 29 and 30
One of the biggest surprises of the 2021 NFL season has been the play of the New England Patriots, who turned to a rookie quarterback and have gotten back to the top of the AFC East. Mac Jones has proven that he was the best quarterback taken last April, and it seems like Bill Belichick has his guy for another run through the playoffs.
Looking ahead, they are going to need some help in the secondary, and Kaiir Elam from Florida is a player that I could see landing in the first round. He has excellent coverage skills, nice hands for a defensive back, and fills one of the few voids on this Patriots defense.
The Dallas Cowboys are a team that is struggling a bit right now, as they may be winning games, but they look shaky doing so. They need to get better play out of quarterback Dak Prescott, but based on pure talent on both sides of the ball, they should be one of the last teams standing in the NFC this season.
That means they will be picking late in round one, and if that is the case, they should make a move for one of the available edge rushers. One player I really like is Drake Jackson, a devastatingly productive defensive end from USC who could come in and be a double-digit guy at the next level in terms of sacks.
