3 Baker Mayfield replacements Browns should already be targeting
By Scott Rogust
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings
We take a step away from the NFL Draft and focus on the trading block. How about a bit of a reunion for Kevin Stefanski and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins?
Since Cousins signed on with the Vikings in the 2018 league year, Stefanski was by his side as his quarterbacks coach and eventually his offensive coordinator. Take a look at Cousins’ stats under Stefanski the two years were working together:
- 2018: 4,298 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 70.1 completion percentage
- 2019: 3,603 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, six interceptions, 69.1 completion percentage
If Stefanski feels that Cousins can help take the Browns to the next level, who’s to say that they won’t try to pull off a trade for him? Cousins will be on the final year of his two-year, $66 million deal with the Vikings in 2022. If Minnesota were to decide to trade him, they would save $35 million in cap space, per Spotrac.
The Browns can give it one year with Cousins to see if he can help take them to the AFC Championship Game, at minimum.
