Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson was carted off the field after suffering a non-contact left ankle injury.
The Jacksonville Jaguars looked to earn their third win of the season in Week 16 as they faced the New York Jets. Early on in the game, the Jaguars lost one of their top offensive players early.
In the first half, Jacksonville running back James Robinson went down with a non-contact injury to his left ankle. After being helped to the medical tent, Robinson was carted off the field with a towel over his head.
The Jaguars immediately ruled Robinson out for the remainder of the game for what was described as an Achilles injury. Then, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that Robinson had suffered a torn Achilles.
#Jaguars RB James Robinson, who left the field with a lower leg injury, is out with a torn Achilles. He’ll have an MRI to determine the extent. Just an awful way to end the season.

James Robinson got carted into the locker room from the sidelines. Awful sight for a great, great player and person.

I feel really bad for James Robinson. Undrafted guy who was a workhorse for his team for years.

Now likely torn Achilles and may never be the same player
Awful news about James Robinson. A true young star at the position.

Really sad seeing James Robinson's season end like this. Such a damn shame he's stuck in that trash fire of an organization.

James Robinson never deserved any of this this year. See you in a year, or more. #Jaguars https://t.co/dnghu7qDuT

Robinson joined the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent last season. He was a bright spot of the team’s one-win 2020 campaign, where he rushed for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns on 240 carries through 14 games.
This year, Robinson started in 12-of-13 games entering Week 16. In those appearances, Robinson ran for 757 yards and eight touchdowns on 161 carries, while catching 31-of-46 targets for 222 yards.
We will continue to keep you updated on Robinson’s status once MRI details are revealed. But based off Rapoport’s report, the Jaguars’ running back’s second season is over.
