Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson wants to be more aggressive in the red zone. Unfortunately for him, his quarterback doesn’t appear to agree with him.

Following yet another frustrating loss for the Minnesota Vikings, wide receiver Justin Jefferson took the opportunity to share some thoughts on how the offense might be able to improve. When speaking with media members after the game, Jefferson spoke about the Vikings’ red zone struggles.

He very clearly said that he wants his team to be more aggressive more frequently.

That’s not an unreasonable request. It’s a pretty popular idea. Be more aggressive in the red zone. Take more shots. Score more points. Win more games.

That’s the idea, right?

Minnesota Vikings: Justin Jefferson wants Minnesota to be more aggressive in red zone

However, it doesn’t seem as if Kirk Cousins, the starting quarterback for the Vikings, is willing to publicly agree with his wide receiver on this issue. According to a tweet from Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Cousins was asked about what Jefferson said and he “didn’t seem to agree.”

Jefferson’s stance is likely one that will be popular with many Minnesota fans. The Vikings haven’t been successful. If there’s a chance that taking a more aggressive approach in the red zone would help them win more regularly, then the Vikings should strongly consider changing the way their offense operates moving forward.

While Jefferson publicly voicing these thoughts isn’t necessarily an indicator of him pointing any blame in anyone’s direction, it is worth noting who has the ultimate control over this team and who has a significant voice in shaping the offense.

Cousins and Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer have quite a bit of control over the offensive philosophies that the Vikings employ.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea for them to entertain some new concepts moving forward.

Of course, between Zimmer’s overall lack of consistent success and Cousin’s hefty contract and his age, many Vikings fans may be hopeful that neither will be around with Minnesota for much longer.
