Kansas City Chiefs Week 16 playoff scenario rooting guide
By Scott Rogust
The Kansas City Chiefs can clinch a playoff berth or the AFC West title for the sixth-consecutive season in Week 16.
The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a huge rivalry win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15, giving them a one-game cushion for the top seed in the AFC> but entering Week 16, the Chiefs will be without tight end Travis Kelce due to being unable to be activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But, wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be play after he was removed from the list this week.
In Week 16, the Chiefs have a chance to clinch a playoff berth and the AFC West division title for the sixth-consecutive season. Here is how Kansas City can secure a spot in the postseason in Week 16, via NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
How the Chiefs can clinch playoff berth in Week 16
For Kansas City to win the division championship, they will need one of two scenarios to happen. They would need to defeat the Steelers and the Los Angeles Chargers to either lose to or tie with the Houston Texans. But the second scenario is a weird one, as the Chiefs would need to tie and the Chargers to lose to the Texans to win the AFC West.
If the AFC West title falls out of reach for Kansas City in Week 16, they can still secure a playoff berth if one of these three scenarios take place. One scenario in the tweet above is out of the equation, since the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Arizona Cardinals 22-16 on Christmas.
- Kansas City win
- Kansas City tie and Buffalo Bills loss to New England Patriots
- Kansas City tie and Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens does not end in a tie.
There you have it, Chiefs fans. This is how the team can make it to the playoffs and win the AFC West in Week 16.
