Here’s the Vikings path to the playoffs after loss to Rams

The Minnesota Vikings haven’t been eliminated from the playoffs but their loss to the Los Angeles Rams complicates their path to the postseason.

With a 30-23 loss to the Rams on Sunday, despite Matthew Stafford throwing three interceptions, the Vikings fell to 7-8 and put a dent in their playoff hopes.

The postseason dream isn’t entirely gone. There are still scenarios that end with Minnesota in the playoffs.

It might just take a minor miracle.

Vikings playoff scenarios after loss to Rams

First and foremost, Minnesota must win their last two games against Green Bay and Chicago. A loss in either game would eliminate the Vikings from the postseason without any other results coming into play.

If Minnesota takes care of business, they still need help from around the league.

The NFC Wildcard places could come down to several squads including the Vikings, Eagles, Saints and 49ers. Philadelphia and New Orleans control their own destinies. They can win out and make the playoffs. San Francisco just needs one of the others to lose while they win out to make it in.

Minnesota, on the other hand, needs two of those three to lose at least once over the last two weeks of the season.

Philadelphia plays Washington and Dallas, but the Cowboys could be tempted to rest players depending on their seeding. New Orleans gets the Panthers and Falcons, each of those winnable games. San Francisco plays Houston and the Rams. The Texans’ win over the Chargers could give some hope for another upset while LA could do Minnesota a favor.

The likelihood of the Vikings winning out isn’t great with a trip to Lambeau on the cards. Them then getting the necessary losses from their playoff rivals is even slimmer.

Still, there is a chance of Minnesota making it. They just haven’t made it easy on themselves.
