Georgia football should have quarterback JT Daniels and wide receiver George Pickens back from COVID after the two joined the Bulldogs in Miami.

Georgia’s depth in the College Football Playoff just got a big boost with the arrival of quarterback JT Daniels and wide receiver George Pickens ahead of the Orange Bowl.

Daniels and Pickens were held out of bowl prep after testing positive for COVID 19. It now appears they’ve been cleared, according to The Athletic.

Georgia football gets JT Daniels, George Pickens back from COVID

Pickens was supposed to be the lead receiver for this Georgia team but he tore his ACL during the spring and missed most of the season. He made it back in time for two games, catching three passes for 46 yards.

When healthy, Pickens is a dangerous playmaker for the Bulldogs. Having missed time with COVID, it’ll be interesting to see how much he’s involved when Georgia battles Michigan. They could use every bit of firepower they can find on offense against the Wolverines.

As for Daniels, he also dealt with injuries early in the season, losing his starting job to Stetson Bennett in the process. While Bennett led the team to the playoff, questions have remained about whether Daniels would make the offense more of a threat. He was a five-star quarterback coming out of high school and started as a true freshman for USC.

Bennett remains the starting quarterback and it seems highly unlikely Daniels will unseat him now. However, his presence could give Kirby Smart an option if something happens to Bennett or if things go south in the game.
