3. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 17 – Jacksonville Jaguars RB Dare Ogunbowale

A running back injury this late in the season can be a crippling blow for some fantasy owners and a major opportunity for others. The unfortunate victim was Jaguars’ running back James Robinson, who tore his Achilles’ tendon against the New York Jets and is done for the season.

The timing was poor for Robinson, who was finally freed from Urban Meyer’s clutches and saw fellow backfield Grinch Carlos Hyde land on injured reserve. Robinson’s absence opened a new opportunity for Dare Ogunbowale, who immediately became Jacksonville’s bell-cow once Robinson left the game.

Ogunbowale turned 17 totes into 57 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions on four targets for another 15 yards. The overall totals aren’t overwhelming but Ogunbowale is a locked-in starter right now, making him an automatic pickup for teams in need of running back help this week.

Rostered in less than one percent of Yahoo leagues entering the week, Ogunbowale merits RB2 consideration on a volume basis against New England in Week 17. The upside depends on if Ogunbowale finds the end zone again but you could do worse if you need a fill-in during championship week.
