Colin Cowherd doesn’t believe in the Green Bay Packers, as he doesn’t think they’re serious Super Bowl contenders because of their run defense.

The Green Bay Packers are on top of the world right now, as they’re 12-3 and hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC. With games against the Vikings and Lions to close out the year, Aaron Rodgers and Co. have a great shot of a first-round bye and home-field advantage for the playoffs.

If you ask Colin Cowherd, though, that won’t be enough for the Packers to bring home the Lombardi Trophy. Nope, Cowherd has called out the Green Bay defense, more specifically the team’s inability to stop the run.

Colin Cowherd blasts Packers’ run defense leading up to the playoffs

“They’re pretty and they’re talented,” Cowherd said this week via zonecoverage.com. “Aaron’s teams are always pretty. But the playoffs are about getting in the octagon. They are 31st in yards allowed per carry. They are going to get absolutely controlled by San Francisco if they meet them in the playoffs.

“So when I look at Green Bay, I wouldn’t even classify it as kryptonite, it’s an unsolvable issue. You can run the ball on them. You look at the Rams, Cam Akers will be back with Sony Michel. Tampa’s offensive line has two Pro Bowlers. Be very careful if you’re Green Bay.”

Those words from Cowherd sure rain on the Green Bay parade, but he’s got a point. The Packers have struggled at stopping the run this year, but they’ve been saved by Rogers making brilliant plays, plus the secondary stepping up as well. Rasul Douglas has been a beast for the squad.

Having said that, this team’s confidence remains high and they’re not going to let Cowherd’s thoughts bring them down. If anything, this might just motivate them to shut him up once the postseason does get here.
