Cavaliers rumors: Time to pull the trigger on Ben Simmons trade

The Cavs have been linked to Simmons for quite some time now, and for good reason. As a team on the rise, Cleveland is likely one piece away from becoming a real playoff threat in the East.

While the 76ers would rather trade Simmons to the West to avoid seeing him in the Eastern Conference Playoffs, the Rubio injury offers them an opportunity to receive something of value from the Cavs. Even Mobley is out of the question, of course, but what about other young players the Cavs possess?

Kevin Love, for one, would almost assuredly be thrown into any trade package. The Cavaliers have thus far been unwilling to trade Garland, so perhaps some version of Love and first-round picks would be enough to entice the 76ers, but still hold on to the young players Cleveland is unwilling to part with.

Daryl Morey, the time is now to make the phone call.

Cavaliers rumors: Wait for Isaiah Thomas to hit the open market again

The timing of this injury news is rough as IT literally just signed with the Dallas Mavericks. However, his contract is for only 10 days.

He’ll undoubtedly play in a reserve role for the Mavericks, and assuming he doesn’t latch on to the rotation there, he’d be a great fit in Cleveland. The Cavaliers need a veteran ball-handler who can run the reserve unit. Thomas is unable to score in bunches as he did in his prime in Boston, but he sure as hell can spread the ball around in limited minutes.

IF Thomas become available once again, the Cavs would be smart to take a chance on him.
