Sooners fans furious at Booger McFarland for Caleb Williams transfer comment
Oklahoma football fans were irate at the ESPN broadcast of the Alamo Bowl when Booger McFarland made a comment about Caleb Williams transferring.
Sooners fans watching the Alamo Bowl definitely weren’t thrilled when the broadcast began with a discussion of one of their worst fears.
ESPN’s Booger McFarland used a shot of quarterback Caleb Williams to make a comment about the prospect of him transferring.
While Williams is quarterbacking the Sooners against Oregon, there have been rampant rumors and worries about him following former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley to USC.
Oklahoma football fans went after Booger McFarland over Caleb Williams
That was not something Oklahoma fans wanted to hear about during their bowl game.
The Sooner hired Brent Venables as their new head coach and he, in turn, hired Jeff Lebby as his offensive coordinator. Needless to say, both of them will want Williams to stick around.
The freshman quarterback was a five-star prospect coming out of high school and led the Sooners for much of the 2021 season. He was one of the top performing freshmen in the country.
At the same time, he was a Riley recruit who was eager to play for the coach who has produced multiple Heisman Trophy winners. Transferring to USC would give him the chance to continue playing under the coach that recruited him.
Williams has stayed quiet on the subject of a transfer, neither feeding the fire nor assuaging Sooners fans with a declaration that he’s staying with Oklahoma.
