The best NFL quarterback from every state
Florida: Matthew Stafford
Florida actually has a decent collection of quarterback talent. The likes of Teddy Bridgewater, Jacoby Brissett, and Lamar Jackson all hail from Florida. That said, we’re giving love to Matthew Stafford.
Stafford is finally getting the national praise he has deserved for years. Unfortunately, being trapped in Detroit with a dumpster fire of an organization that doesn’t value winning kept eyes off of his great talent. Amidst all of the Lions’ dysfunction, Stafford was one of the few pillars of consistency. From 2011-17, he threw for at least 4,000 yards in every season, including 5,038 yards in 2011.
Now in Los Angeles with the Rams, Stafford has all of the national spotlight on him, and he is taking full advantage. He currently has the second highest passer rating of his career, and is just five touchdowns away from tying his career high of 41 touchdown passes in a season. The Rams traded for Stafford to get them to a Super Bowl- so far, it looks like he can do that.
Georgia: Cam Newton
Georgia has a solid collection of current NFL quarterbacks. Deshaun Watson, Justin Fields, and Taylor Heinicke were all born in the peach state. That said, Newton has the best overall portfolio out of any quarterback from Georgia.
While the last few seasons have been forgettable for the former Heisman Trophy winner, he was one of the most exciting players in the league to watch in his prime. He won the 2015 MVP, and led the Panthers to a 15-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance that season.
Newton is, statistically, the best running quarterback of all time. His size and speed combination made him a touchdown machine from inside the 10 yard-line. He returned back to the Panthers in the 2021 season, but has yet to win a game.
