Caleb Williams adds more mystery to his future at Oklahoma after Alamo Bowl win

Following Oklahoma’s Alamo Bowl victory, quarterback Caleb Williams spoke about his future with the Sooners.
Caleb Williams and the Oklahoma Sooners had quite the end to their 2021 season. They lost to Oklahoma State in the regular-season finale, head coach Lincoln Riley jumped ship to lead the USC Trojans, Brent Venables was hired to replace Riley and Spencer Rattler transferred to South Carolina. But on Wenesday, the Sooners ended the year on a high note with a 47-32 win over the Oregon Ducks in the Alamo Bowl.
Following the game, Williams spoke about his future with Oklahoma with the Venables regime officially in after the Alamo Bowl. The quote below comes courtesy of Garrett Stepien of 247Sports.
"“The whole transfer portal thing and coach [Brent Venables] going up there and saying all of that, I was focused on finishing the semester off strong, being with my guys, making sure that all my guys that won’t be here next year — I have the chance to be here. All my guys that won’t be here next year, they go off on the right note, we go off 11-2, and I’m about to go on vacation with my family. I haven’t been on vacation in a really long time. After all these ups and downs I want to go on vacation, spend time with my family and focus on that, and that’s it.”"

For the Oklahoma program and the fanbase, they will have to play the waiting game to see whether Williams wants to return, or will ultimately transfer. The decision is all his.
Rattler, who was a Heisman favorite and a presumptive first-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft entering this season, struggled to live up to the lofty expectations. Ultimately, Riley sent Rattler to the bench and Williams under center, and the freshman shined.
In the final game of his freshman year, Williams completed 21-of-27 pass attempts for 242 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 34 yards on seven carries in the win over Oregon.
On the year, Williams threw for 1,912 yards, 21 touchdowns and four interceptions, while running for 442 yards and six touchdowns on 79 carries.
