Jim Harbaugh has led Michigan football to the College Football Playoff for the first time in his career but he also has an impressive NFL résumé.

Despite the talk of never getting over the hump, Jim Harbaugh finally did so with the Michigan Wolverines in the 2021 season. They beat rival Ohio State for the first time in his tenure and punched a ticket to the College Football Playoff.

But while college fans may know that Harbaugh previously coached at Stanford, they may be less familiar with his NFL ties.

Jim Harbaugh led 49ers to Super Bowl 47

Harbaugh spent four years in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and was quite successful. He had a career record from 2011-14 of 44-19-1. That included three NFC Championship Game appearances and, in his second season with the 49ers, he led them to Super Bowl 47, which he, unfortunately, lost to the Baltimore Ravens.

What NFL team did Jim Harbaugh play for?

The former Michigan Wolverines quarterback actually played in the NFL as well. He was well-traveled as he spent seven seasons with the Chicago Bears, four with the Indianapolis Colts, one with the Ravens, two with the San Diego Chargers and ended his career with brief stints on the Lions and Panthers rosters. His career ranged from 1987-2001.

Jim Harbaugh’s brother, John, is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Incidentally, it was brother John that defeated Jim in the aforementioned Super Bowl 47.
