With the New Years Eve festivities in the books and six weeks of non-stop cooking, cleaning, and hosting across Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve, no one would fault you for phoning on the first day of the year. So if you woke up on New Years Day just not wanting to cook and instead of looking toward those golden arches of McDonald’s, then you’re not alone.

Most people aren’t going to be cooking on New Years Day, but you should be aware that New Years day is in fact a federal holiday and that means things like the post services and other city and state-led outfits are going to be closed as well.

Many restaurants and stores are also going to have adjusted hours as well, making it a crapshoot on if McDonald’s or whatever else will be open on New Years Day. So, is McDonald’s open on Jan. 1, 2022?

Will McDonald’s be open on New Years Day?

If you’re hoping to get some McDonald’s on New Years Day, you probably won’t be disappointed, you know, as long as you enjoy their food that is. Most McDonald’s will not only be open but observing their normal hours of operation.

Many will be open by 6 AM and will be open until 10 or 11 PM depending on locations. Restaurants that are 24 hours will remain open all night as usual, with no interruption to their services.

That said, not every restaurant is guaranteed to be open or to keep the same hours. That’s because McDonald’s is franchised out to smaller businesses and those individual franchise owners decide how late to keep the restaurant open or if they are even open at all.

Your best bet is to either call ahead or go online to see what their hours of operation are for the day of.
