What Myles Garrett really said about facing Ben Roethlisberger for the final time

A quote attributed to Myles Garrett made the rounds on Thursday, in which he allegedly took a shot at Ben Roethlisberger. Yet, Garrett never said those words.

Oh, to understand sarcasm. While the fake quote was quite funny, not everyone (looking at you, Pittsburgh media) understood the joke. Garrett never said the following words:

Excuse me? No, Garrett did not make a veiled death threat against Roethlisberger. That’s as obvious as they come.

Garrett was actually asked what it would be like facing Roethlisberger for the final time on Friday. His answer was far more believable than the previous quote.

“I’ll miss his presence in the game, but as far as going against him, the rivalry, him vs. us, no I won’t miss that. I’ll look for new challenges,” Garrett said.

Garrett and the Browns can’t wait for Roethlisberger to retire, even if they’re not willing to admit it. Roethlisberger has owned the Browns throughout his career. His 29–6–1 record against the Browns is utter dominance. Despite Garrett’s greatness, and relative infancy in Browns culture, even he has struggled against Roethlisberger, all things considered.

With a new quarterback next season, the Steelers will not be the same AFC North force we’re accustomed to. Roethlisberger was steady behind center for 18 seasons. 18 seasons! The idea Pittsburgh will be anything close to what we’re accustomed to is a fallacy.

However, if any team can rebuild on the fly, it’s the Steelers. For the time being, Garrett should enjoy his time without Roethlisberger.
