Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was not benched. Instead, his vaccination status came back to haunt him.
Yes, vaccinated individuals can still get COVID-19, but the likelihood of being infected is far greater when said person opts out of that defense system. Cousins has opted not to get vaccinated, which while his choice, also gives Vikings fans the right to be angry with him for missing a relatively large moment in their season.
Cousins didn’t want to explain himself in training camp, citing the familiar personal decision argument.
“I want to respect what other people’s concerns are. For me personally, just talking no one else can get the virus, what is your concern if you could get it, I would say I’m gonna go about my daily life. If I get it, I’m gonna ride it out. I’m gonna let nature do its course. Survival-of-the-fittest kind of approach. And just say, if it knocks me out, it knocks me out. I’m going to be OK. You know, even if I die. If I die, I die. I kind of have peace about that,” Cousins said.
If he dies, he dies? Obviously we hope that’s not the case, as Cousins was placed on the COVID-19 list earlier this week, making him ineligible for Sunday Night Football against the Packers. But his decision-making could cost the likes of his head coach, Mike Zimmer, and his assistants their jobs.
Did Kirk Cousins get benched?
No, Cousins was not benched. Instead, he contracted COVID-19. There’s no way of knowing if he still would’ve gotten the virus were he vaccinated, but it sure would’ve helped his odds.
Vikings fans aren’t happy with their quarterback, who as the highest-paid member of the team, ought to be available in big games such as a contest where the Vikings playoff hopes are on the line.
Why has there been virtually zero criticism of Kirk Cousins ridiculous selfish anti-vaxx stance on ESPN?

Dude makes $30Mill a year to at least do the most he can to be on the field for a vital game.
Way worse than AB.
sean mannion is more obsessed with checkdowns than kirk cousins

Mannion brilliant so far at cosplaying Kirk Cousins by throwing 2 yard check downs on 3rd and 5

Kirk being out at the game that matters most is definitely the most kirk cousins thing that could happen lol

Im watching the packer viking game right now. Its a shame Kirk Cousins got Covid and is not able to play. Him not getting vaccinated might have cost the vikings a playoff spot.

So anti-vaccination Kirk Cousins has Covid and has to miss the Vikings critical game tonight. Still as brilliant as he was with the WFT I see. Not really feeling sorry for him.

Me: "Wait why is Sean Mannion starting again?"
— Andrew Schnittker (@aschnitt53) January 3, 2022
*Remembers it's because Kirk Cousins is an idiot*
Oh, right, lol
Vikings getting all sorts of opportunities on offense. Makes it sting real bad that Kirk isn’t out there

I wonder if Kirk Cousins feels bad about deciding to let his team get knocked out of playoff contention. pic.twitter.com/wKEmHXdc1n

The @Vikings could really use Kirk Cousins right now. @SNFonNBC

In Cousins’ place, the Vikings decided to start quarterback Sean Mannion over rookie Kellen Mond out of Texas A&M.
Next. Vikings miss golden opportunity at starting QB with Kirk Cousins out. dark
