Can Matt Nagy save his job with another dominating Bears win?

With the Chicago Bears taking down the New York Giants on Sunday, could a win to close out the season keep Matt Nagy in the Windy City? 

For a while now, the future of Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has been completely up in the air. Earlier in the season, reports surfaced stating he was a lock to get fired before 2021 wrapped up. Now, though, have things changed?

Well, a bit, as the Bears have won two of their last three games, highlighted by Sunday’s dominant victory over the New York Giants. With a win in Week 18, would it be enough for fans to want Nagy back in town come next fall?

The expectation is that Matt Nagy will still be fired this winter

Yes, while Sunday’s 29-3 performance over the New York Giants was great to see, it came against one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Giants are a complete and total dumpster fire, with New York fans calling for Joe Judge to be canned as well.

The fact of the matter is that Nagy just hasn’t delivered for this team. When he named Andy Dalton the starting quarterback ahead of Week 1 over first-round pick Justin Fields, people were beyond furious.

Is Nagy going to be the guy to help develop Fields into a star quarterback in the NFC? Many believe the answer is heck no to that question. Following the Sunday win, Chicago is 6-10 on the season. With a victory over the Vikings next week, the Bears would finish 7-10.

That’s still not good enough and nothing for the Chicago faithful to celebrate. This team just hasn’t been a contender with Nagy in charge and it’s clear a change needs to be made. For the Chicago front office, they can’t let Nagy return. Period.
