An unfortunate sticker placement completely changed the reading of an otherwise pro-Ben Roethlisberger headline in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Not only is the clock running out on the Pittsburgh Steelers season, but so too the career of Ben Roethlisberger.

The future Hall of Fame quarterback has heavily hinted that Monday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns will be his final one at Heinz Field. Whether that means the final one of his career or the last time he suits up in Black and Yellow is yet to be seen, but the sentiment remains the same.

Monday night is Big Ben’s last rodeo in front of a home crowd in Pittsburgh.

This has obviously led to a plethora of tributes for the Steelers legend, who will go down as perhaps the best quarterback in franchise history. His two Super Bowls pale in comparison to the ones Terry Bradshaw brought home, but the gap between Roethlisberger and Bradshaw is not wide.

The rush to memorialize the legacy of Roethlisberger has led to some truly genuine outpourings of support from fans thankful for the years of great football they’ve been able to watch. It’s also led to some unfortunate errors.

Check out the front page of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Sunday edition, which had an otherwise pro-Roethlisberger headline completely altered thanks to some unfortunate sticker placement:

For all of the great years that Roethlisberger gave Steelers fans, this is a phrase — no matter how unintentional the error was — that fans have uttered many times over the years. Most of the disparaging comments toward Big Ben have come over the last few years, especially this season.

When all is said and done for the 2021 season, it will mark the first losing season of Roethlisberger’s career. It’s not quite the way anyone in Pittsburgh wanted to send him out, but the headline goof is perfectly representative of the comedy of errors this season has been for the Steelers.
