Ben Roethlisberger talked about playing his last Steelers home game at Heinz Field and, after sealing it with a win, he couldn’t hold back tears.

Emotions ran high at Heinz Field for what quarterback Ben Roethlisberger predicted would be his final home game with the Pittsburgh Steelers before the opening kickoff ever happened.

That got turned up even further on Monday night, though, after the team clinched a big victory over the rival Browns.

Roethlisberger, thanks to a game-sealing interception, was able to come in and get a curtain call kneel down to seal the victory for the Steelers. He then took a minute walking across the field to soak in all of the love from the home crowd in the Steel City.

However, it was when he arrived next to ESPN’s Lisa Salters that emotions poured out of Big Ben. He couldn’t hold back tears as he talked about how much the entire city, the team, the fans and this moment meant to him as he took his last victorious ride at Heinz Field.

Everyone knows that Ben Roethlisberger isn’t the player he once was. But that doesn’t matter in a moment like this.

Big Ben has been a Pittsburgh icon throughout his career and has done so much for the organization, winning a Super Bowl just being the tip of the iceberg. And to see him get this moment and truly appreciate it was something that fans (of the Steelers and of football) won’t soon forget.

And neither will Ben Roethlisberger if I had to guess.
