Does Derrick Henry’s imminent return make the Titans the AFC favorites?
The Tennessee Titans’ offense is about to get even more dangerous thanks to the imminent return of star running back Derrick Henry.
It’s been more than two months since Tennessee Titans fans have been able to watch Derrick Henry out on the field making his usual incredible plays. Due to a foot fracture, Henry has been sidelined since the Oct. 31 victory over the Colts.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports Henry is expected to return to practice on Wednesday. While it’s up in the air if he’ll be able to suit up to take on the Texans in the regular-season finale, getting him back ahead of the postseason is monster news for head coach Mike Vrabel.
Derrick Henry could help the Titans go on a Super Bowl run
As things stand, the Titans hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They could lock that in with a victory against Houston in Week 18, which would earn them a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
That’s bad news as it is for the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and other AFC contenders. On top of that, they’re now potentially going to have to try and stop a rested Henry from running all over them as well later this winter?
Before going down with his injury, Henry was an absolute beast for Tennessee, as he had rushed for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2021. What makes Henry so special is his ability to lower his shoulder and truck would-be tacklers. It’s not easy bringing down the 6-foot-3, 247-pounder.
Tennessee’s confidence was already high, but now things are going up a level thanks to Henry putting the pads back on once again. Titans fans are surely dreaming of a trip to SoFi Stadium for the Super Bowl on Feb. 12.
