It was a strong bowl season for the Mountain West with their only loss coming from Nevada, who lost to Western Michigan of the MAC in the Quick Lane Bowl.
Of the Power 5 conferences, the Big 12 had the strongest showing while the Big Ten had more wins but also more losses.
The SEC finished with a losing record. However, no conference had more teams play in bowl games than them.
The Pac-12 suffered the most this bowl season with no wins at all. Utah produced an entertaining Rose Bowl performance even though it ended in disappointment in a loss to Ohio State. UCLA might have had the best shot of breaking through for a victory in the Holiday if not for the COVID issues that resulted in that game’s cancelation.
Even Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff admitted it’s been rough for his conference, which hasn’t won a bowl game since Oregon’s Rose Bowl victory following the 2019 season.
