2022 NFL Mock Draft: Houston Texans pass on a QB, stick with Davis Mills

Picks No. 4 through 6

Kyle Hamilton. 4. player. 30. . Safety. New York Jets

The New York Jets hold two first-round picks within the first seven selections, this after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past weekend. For the Jets, they have some major issues on both sides of the ball but watching them the last few weeks, they are getting better play from 2021 No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson.

At pick No. 4 in 2022, they look to the opposite side of the ball, selecting Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton, the best defensive back in this draft class. Hamilton is a freight train from his safety spot and will be an instant star in New York.

player. 31. . Offensive Lineman. New York Giants. Ikem Ekwonu. 5

The fifth overall pick belongs to the team the Jets share MetLife Stadium with, as the New York Giants will select here in 2022. The Giants, like the Jets, have some major issues with their roster, and will likely be moving on from general manager Dave Gettleman heading into this draft season.

With two picks in the top-8, the Giants can get better in a hurry, but they have to figure out whether or not Daniel Jones is their franchise quarterback. If he is, then Ikem Ekwonu has to be the pick here, the most versatile offensive lineman this draft class has to offer.

. Quarterback. Carolina Panthers. Kenny Pickett. 6. player. 87

Next season, the Carolina Panthers will be paying Sam Darnold a lot of money, but that does not mean he has to be their starting quarterback. In fact, both he and Cam Newton have looked awful this season, and the franchise would be wise to move on from both, adding a quarterback here at No. 6 overall.

In our latest mock draft, that quarterback is Kenny Pickett, a star for Pitt, and the first quarterback off the board next April. He has everything you look for in a potential franchise guy, and for Carolina, it is time to turn the page and bring in a new signal-caller to lead this next era of Panthers football.
