Current and former Chiefs react to Antonio Brown news

Some current and former Kansas City Chiefs reacted to the Antonio Brown news just like all football fans, but perhaps with a bit more caution.

Brown stormed off the field in the second half of the Buccaneers eventual win over the New York Jets. At the time, Tampa was losing at MetLife Stadium.

AB refused to go in the game, as he was directed by the Buccaneers’ coaching staff, because he didn’t feel comfortable doing so on a bum ankle. At least, that’s his side of the story and he’s sticking to it. Bucs’ head coach Bruce Arians said he was never made aware of Brown’s situation, thus complicating his status in-game.

Chiefs: Current and former players comment on Antonio Brown

Chiefs receiver Daurice Fountain — who is currently on the practice squad — preached for patience as reactions from NFL fans poured in:

“To all the people making fun of the AB situation is mad lame. Mental illness & CTE is REAL and unfortunately it’s a real reality for a lot of us in this business. Instead of making fun of him and chasing clout, let’s figure out a way to give him the HELP he needs,” Fountain said.

Former Chiefs defender Tamba Hali — a five-time Pro Bowler — stated a similar reaction. The theme established here is that players were on Brown’s side.

“It’s safe to say we don’t know what really happened except we saw the reaction of something we will never get to understand!!! Antonio Brown is an elite wide receiver and we’ve never seen this kind of behavior before yeah?” Hali said.

Former Chiefs offensive lineman Jeff Allen also chimed in, stating that he hopes Brown finds peace away from the game of football.

All three Chiefs were spot on — we don’t know what Brown is going through, even still. Until we do, we ought to show some level of support rather than just making fun of him.
