Despite rumors flying that the Minnesota Vikings could fire Mike Zimmer this offseason, the head coach doesn’t look to be concerned at all.

Another year of the Minnesota Vikings missing the postseason has fans all over the Twin Cities furious. Vikings supporters have been calling for Mike Zimmer to be fired since early on this season.

Despite that, Zimmer is calm, cool and collected leading up to the season finale against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. With a win, Minnesota would finish the year 8-9, but a loss will close things out at 7-10. Win or lose, Zimmer is proud of what he’s been able to get done with this team.

Mike Zimmer isn’t worried about his job security leading up to Week 18

“I do think it’s different that people can talk about your job and being let go and things like that and not understanding the effects of all your coaches, effects of all the players, effects of their families and they say it after you lose every week,’’ Zimmer said via the Twin Cities Pioneer Press. “So they don’t go around saying they should fire that doctor or fire that landscape guy or anything like that. So it’s just part of the business, I guess.”

Zimmer knows that at the end of the day, the team’s wins and losses is all on him. While he’s posted a 71-56 record with the Vikings, highlighted by the 13-3 season in 2017, the squad has posted back-to-back losing seasons.

To make things worse, the Green Bay Packers have won two straight NFC North titles and Aaron Rodgers has his team as the Super Bowl favorites. Later this winter, we’ll find out if Zimmer will be back in 2022 or not. Regardless of what happens, Zimmer made it clear he’ll be able to hold his head up high.
