As the Seattle Seahawks start looking to rebuild, they’ll have to examine their roster and evaluate the best moves for their longterm future.

The Seattle Seahawks are struggling. At 6-10, things seem a little bleak for Seattle right now. The Seahawks will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2017. This is the first losing season for the Seahawks since 2011.

After a long, respectable stretch of success, it seems like things are about to change in a dramatic way for Seattle.

The Seahawks will need to figure out what they want to do with their future and, as part of that, they’ll have to make some very difficult decisions with their roster. Whether Seahawks fans want it or not, it seems inevitable that this franchise will enter into a rebuild phase sooner rather than later.

Will Seattle make some monumental trades and pick up some possible future stars in the draft? Or will this team try to seek out stability and work to rebuild around its current stars again?

Seattle Seahawks: 3 players Seattle should consider moving on from as Seahawks work to rebuild

Geno Smith

Throughout his time in the NFL, Geno Smith has seen plenty of teams struggle to succeed. Of course, while many will be quick to point out Smith’s history and overall lack of success throughout his career, he is hardly the reason why Seattle isn’t winning right now.

So, if Smith’s play isn’t why this team is having issues, why should the Seahawks go ahead and move on from him?

Smith isn’t getting any younger and he’s likely not going to get much better. As he prepares to enter into free agency, teams pretty much know what to expect from the 31-year-old quarterback.

He’s been efficient and generally pretty effective this year when asked to play, but he hasn’t really put the Seahawks in the best position to win. There’s a good chance that he won’t be doing that any time soon.

Smith is on a pretty cheap deal, so it wouldn’t necessarily be the worst thing if Seattle decided to keep him, but given his age, it wouldn’t necessarily hurt the Seahawks if they chose to move him elsewhere to open up a spot on the roster for someone a little younger.
