Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson made a pretty consequential statement following what potentially could have been his last game with the team.
Following what was possibly his last game with the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson has issued a comment on what he wants his future to look like. Wilson, the starting quarterback for the Seahawks for years now, has been the face of the franchise, leading Seattle to Super Bowls and a number of wins.
Now, after a relatively rough season and a swirl of potential trade rumors, Wilson is commenting on what he wants for his future.
Seattle fans will almost certainly be thrilled with what their quarterback had to say.

The Seahawks are in a tough spot. They’ll really need to evaluate whether or not they want to continue on with Wilson or actually commit to a full on rebuild going forward.
Outside of a few dings and dents (such as an MCL sprain in 2016, a finger injury that sidelined him this season, and some ankle injuries here and there), Wilson has been able to stay pretty healthy throughout his career.
Still, all of this is worth considering along with his age and how much he’s being paid.
The nature of this sport is a tough one and there’s a physical toll that comes with it. At some point, it will likely catch up to him as it does with many. The 33-year-old quarterback won’t be getting any younger. He will inevitably, eventually slow down.
Given how expensive his contract is, it will eventually be difficult to surround him with a talented enough supporting cast to overcome any eventual decline.
Wilson should also consider his future in all of this. He likely doesn’t have another decade left in the NFL. His championship window is also starting to close.
If he wants to cement his legacy with another championship or two and if he doesn’t think Seattle is a place to do that, then he should look at the possibility of waiving his contract’s no trade clause (which he reportedly has considered in the past).
That’s not to say that the Seahawks must trade him or that Wilson should push for a trade, but if they want to go forward with one, they’re better off doing that sooner rather than later. Wilson’s stock is high right now. The return in a trade could be huge.
Right now, though it previously looked like a trade may have been possible, it looks like Wilson and the Seahawks intend to continue with their current path and figure out other ways forward with the roster.
