With rumors flying that Matt Ryan could potentially head to Pittsburgh, it’s been made clear that won’t be happening. 

When the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, it’s fully expected to be Ben Roethlisberger’s final game with his team. Yes, he hasn’t officially announced this is his last hurrah, but all signs are pointing to that being the case.

So, who will be the starting signal-caller for the Steelers come Week 1 next season? No one knows, but what we do know is that Matt Ryan won’t be the man taking over the job. Rumors had flown that Ryan could potentially make his way to Heinz Field, but Ryan won’t be leaving Atlanta.

Matt Ryan to Pittsburgh rumors can’t officially be put to rest

Per NFL insider Chris Mortensen, Ryan indeed will head back to the Falcons next year and keep rocking as the team’s starting signal-caller. This is good news for Falcons fans, plus the Pittsburgh faithful as well. While Ryan has put up monster numbers, he’s also 36 years old and turning 37 next May.

Pittsburgh doesn’t need to replace one aging quarterback with another. Instead, folks in the Steel City are ready to see what the team will be doing in the 2022 NFL Draft. The hope from people is that the organization will use an early pick on a young, stud quarterback.

Countless eyes will be on general manager Kevin Colbert. Well, the NFL Draft will be where he’ll be making his last set of massive decisions for the team, as he’s expected to step down from his position this upcoming spring.

There’s plenty of things in limbo for Pittsburgh heading into next season, but we know for sure that Ryan won’t be the one to run the offense for the Steelers.
