It may not have been easier as it was in the past, but the Alabama Crimson Tide have reached the 2021 National Championship Game. Standing in their way are the very Bulldogs that suffered their first loss of the season in their first meeting.
Alabama has the chance to win the national championship for the second consecutive season. But how many titles does the program have?
How many national championships has Alabama won?
The Crimson Tide have claimed 18 national championships in their program’s history.
Alabama’s very first title came all the way back in 1925 after going 10-0 following their 20-19 Rose Bowl win over the Washington Huskies.
Last year, the Crimson Tide defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 52-24 to win their 18th national title.
In terms of which coach has won the most national championships at Alabama, that is currently a tie between Paul “Bear” Bryant and Nick Saban, who have won six. But, if the Crimson Tide are to defeat the Bulldogs on Monday night, Saban will earn his seventh with the program.
The Crimson Tide are making their sixth appearance in the CFP National Championship Game. There have been eight CFP National Championship Games in existence. They had won three of those games in their previous five trips.
