Bears fire head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace after yet another lost season.

The Chicago Bears have fired head coach Matt Nagy after four seasons and general manager Ryan Pace after seven seasons. A regime that was given chance after chance has finally run out of chances. Change is coming to Chicago, and fans have never been more ready.

Pace was given seven seasons, seven drafts, three head coaches, and numerous opportunities to build a winning roster and change the culture of the Bears. Some highlights include underrated mid-range draft finds to the blockbuster trade that brought Khalil Mack to Chicago from the Raiders. However, overshadowing those things are a 48-65 record, zero playoff wins, and zero direction for the franchise to go with him at the helm.

Nagy was hired as the head coach after the 2017-2018 season that saw the Bears trade up in the draft to take QB Mitchell Trubisky and needed someone to develop him into a pro quarterback. He was labeled and branded as an “offensive genius,” and everyone was ready for the change and the future in Chicago.

Unfortunately, Nagy’s selfishness to do things his way rather than what the team needed and was capable of was more important to him. Four years later, a 34-33 record with zero progress being made is where it got the Bears.

Bears fire Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace: Where do they go from here?

At the end of the 2020-2021 season, Nagy and Pace preached the idea of “collaboration.” They will now be collaborating their way out the door because it, again, did not work. While this is something that has been in the works for a few weeks now, there is no doubt there is more change coming to Chicago for the better. Bears fans believe and hope this is the beginning of real change coming to Halas Hall.

What’s next for the Bears? Hopefully, a splash of a football mind at general manager and a head coach that will lead the whole team with what the team needs and not what the coach wants.
