Is Alabama quarterback Bryce Young related to Vince Young?
By John Buhler
College football fans are wondering if Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is related to Vince Young.
With the Alabama football team taking on the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, people are wondering if Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young is related to former Heisman Trophy runner-up Vince Young.
Though Young is an incredibly common surname in the United States, it is exceedingly rare for two quarterbacks to rise to national prominence with the same last name. While Steve Young remains the greatest of the Young passers, is there any chance the Alabama star quarterback is related to the Texas football legend who carried the 2005 Longhorns to their most recent national title?
No, Bryce Young and Vince Young are not related, but it would be pretty cool if they were.
Is Alabama QB Bryce Young related to Vince Young?
Even though these two star quarterbacks may not seem to have a lot in common upon first glance, they are arguably the two greatest signal-callers in their schools respective histories. Vince Young is the best quarterback Texas has ever had, although guys like Colt McCoy and Sam Ehlinger were very good players in their own right. As for Bryce Young, he just won the Heisman Trophy.
Alabama has had several outstanding quarterbacks over the years, but no Crimson Tide signal-caller had ever won the Heisman prior to Young. What is even crazier is he did this in his first full season as the starter. Though he is not draft-eligible until 2023, Young could become the first repeat winner of the Heisman Trophy since Archie Griffin went back-to-back for Ohio State.
Together, Bryce, Steve and Vince are the holy triumvirates of college quarterbacks with the Young. surname but are of no relation
