College football fans are very concerned about Lee Corso after his appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay ahead of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Lee Corso is a college football legend, but his latest College GameDay appearance has fans of the sport watching at home concerned.

Corso is 86-years-old and is an absolute icon in the profession. He is what made GameDay the best pre-game show college football has ever seen. Synonymous with the headgear pick and his catchphrase of “not so fast,” it might be time for LC to call it a career. His latest appearance on GameDay ahead of the national championship had fans very concerned about his well-being.

If this is the last game that Corso covers for ESPN, then he will ride off into the sunset gracefully.

College football fans express concerns about Lee Corso on College GameDay

Corso is every bit the college football lifer. From his days rooming with Burt Reynolds at Florida State, to coaching the likes of Indiana and Louisville, to being the heart of College GameDay, Corso is simply irreplaceable.

However, it is difficult to watch those we love and grew up watching struggling on camera like this.

GameDay has a great team featuring the likes of Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit and David Pollack. But when it’s time, it’s time.

Corso has been part of the American fabric for generations. Whether your favorite college football team was on cloud nine or rebuilding through sanctions, Corso was always there every Saturday morning to help bring to life what made college football so special. His love for the game and the manner that college Saturdays brought people together was unrivaled. It is just time to move on.

ESPN should do the right thing and let Corso go out on top after this game and enjoy retirement.
