Alabama football fell victim to the dreaded Drake Curse in National Championship

Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship Game. So, is the Drake curse to blame?

The Alabama Crimson Tide looked to close out an eventful 2021 season with yet another win over the Georgia Bulldogs to win the National Championship. They certainly looked like they were on the verge of doing so, considering they held a 9-6 lead at halftime. Yet, it was the Bulldogs who hoisted the CFP National Championship trophy after they won 33-18.

As is the case every huge championship game, everyone is wondering who rap star Drake picked to win. On his latest social media post, he included the hashtag “Roll Tide Roll.”

Is the Drake curse to blame for Alabama’s National Championship loss?

Well, Alabama fans will certainly believe that the Drake curse is real.

The momentum firmly changed hands from Alabama to Georgia in the second half. Even after surrendering a one-yard touchdown to Zamir White, Alabama retook the lead in the fourth quarter on a three-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bryce Young to tight end Cameron Latu, but failed on the two-point conversion attempt.

The 18-13 lead disappeared once Georgia signal caller Stetson Bennett threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Adonai Mitchell, who leaped over defensive back Khyree Jackson for an impressive catch to take a 19-18 lead. Then, Bennett connected with tight end Brock Bowers on a 15-yard touchdown to extend said lead to 26-18.

But any chance of the Crimson Tide tying the game ended once Young threw a pick six to Kelee Ringo.

Drake curse or not, Alabama’s goal of winning their 19th national title did not come to fruition in Lucas Oil Stadium.
