Watch Georgia fans flood Athens streets to celebrate national championship
Georgia football won their first national championship in over 40 years, so of course Bulldogs fans flooded the streets of Athens to celebrate.
If there’s one thing you can say about Georgia football fans, it’s that they are always dedicated. Whether good or bad times, the Bulldogs fans are there barking. So when it was the best of times on Monday night after winning the program’s first national championship since 1980, the barks were a bit louder.
You could certainly hear the fans who traveled to Indianapolis loud and clear as they and the team basked in the glory of winning a title (and finally getting over the Alabama hurdle). But back home in Athens, the fans were still going wild.
It didn’t take long after the 60 minutes expired officially for Georgia football fans to be in the streets of Athens absolutely ready to get the party going like it’s 1980.

That’s a party you definitely want to be a part of — unless you’re a Crimson Tide fan.
But in all seriousness, this has to be an almost cathartic celebration for the Bulldogs fans in Athens. 41 years is a long, long time to wait for another title, especially after coming up just short on so many occasions.
So really, the fans and the city deserve this party, deserve to get raucous and deserve to live up every second after that victory. Their team earned in Indianapolis — by 15 points, no less.
