The Georgia football program will have its first national championship parade since 1980.

A story some 41 years in the making, the Georgia Bulldogs are national champions.

It wasn’t easy, but whatever is with this football team. After losing its shot at perfection vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta, Georgia rallied to beat Michigan in the Orange Bowl, and then finally slayed the Nick Saban dragon up in Indianapolis. No college fanbase had suffered through more for longer than Dawg Nation, but they are now champions.

As one drunk, obnoxious Georgia fan rises from their stupor after another on the finest of Tuesday mornings, they’ve got a parade to attend up in the Classic City.

Georgia parade 2022: Bulldogs National Championship parade route, start time

Here is what we know about the Dawgs’ National Championship parade:

  • It will be held on Saturday in Athens, because, of course it will be.
  • The Jan. 15 parade through the Classic City will likely start at 12:00 p.m. ET
  • The expectation is that it will go down Lumpkin Street and end at Sanford Stadium.
  • The celebration is expected to commence afterwards at around 2:00 p.m. ET

This will be updated as more details come out from Georgia athletics, probably sometime Tuesday.

While having to wait five days before getting their hard-earned parade is a bit much, keep in mind these are student-athletes and they have classes to attend. More importantly, it is only fitting to give Dawg Nation one last unforgettable Saturday in Athens. Rain or shine, expect for the Classic City to be nothing short of a freaking zoo on the 15th. You Dawgs have earned this day in the sun.

Take the biggest SEC home game in a given year and multiply it by 10, and that’ll be Saturday.
