5 candidates the Giants have to interview for head coach
The New York Giants fired Joe Judge on Tuesday and these five head coach candidates should be on their shortlist and already getting interviews set up.
After it first looked as if the New York Giants were going to stubbornly retain head coach Joe Judge, it took just 24 hours after the Black Monday firings for team owner John Mara to change his tune and the direction of the franchise.
On Tuesday, the Giants fired Joe Judge after accruing a dismal 10-23 record over his two seasons as the team’s head coach. This, of course, came one day after the news that general manager Dave Gettleman was retiring from his post and a long time holding that position throughout the league at various stops before New York.
But now Big Blue is in search of a new head coach (and general manager). This team has some notable talent that could be built around but they have big decisions to make regarding the futures of key players like quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley.
That makes the head coaching hire they make absolutely crucial for the future of the franchise. And they should waste little time trying to set up an interview with any or all of these five candidates.

Patrick Graham has been a well-respected defensive coordinator for the Giants
Because the Giants have been so bad on the whole, the fact of the matter is that their defense — particularly in the 2020 season — has often been a bright spot despite not having the most talent-laden roster on that side of the ball. And that has been a testament to the work that defensive coordinator Patrick Graham has put in with his unit.
Now, with Judge out the door, it remains to totally be seen what the G-Men plan to do with the rest of the coaching staff. If they wanted to retain some sort of consistency, though, giving Graham a look would make a lot of sense. With a change at general manager, perhaps the Maras will value the notion of having someone who’s familiar with the roster guide the team into a new era.
