Former Oklahoma linebacker Nik Bonitto went after Sooners teammates who are leaving to follow Lincoln Riley to USC football.

The feud between USC football and Oklahoma keeps getting doused in more gasoline.

Over the weekend, it was former Sooners linebacker Nik Bonitto who lit the match when he tweeted about Oklahoma players leaving for USC.

ā€œSome of these kids talking down on the coaches all season now they wanna join em at usc bunch of clowns OU don’t need em,ā€ Bonitto tweeted.

As for who Bonitto was specifically talking about, that’s not entirely clear.

Was Nik Bonitto throwing shade at Mario Williams or someone else?

The obvious answer is Mario Williams. The former four-star wide receiver announced his commitment to join USC on Saturday a few hours before Bonitto went off on Twitter.

However, there are other candidates who are considering the Trojans as well. Quarterback Caleb Williams is also heavily favored to land at USC, though Bonitto’s statements might not apply.

A more clear link comes in the form of former Oklahoma cornerback Latrell McCutchin. Specifically, in a similar timeline, McCutchin tweeted telling OU fans to unfollow him because of the comments they were making on his tweets, but he’s deleted that tweet since.

Moreover, McCutchin and his family have expressed frustration with the Oklahoma coaching staff on defense, particularly cornerbacks coach Roy Manning.

McCutchin went on to seemingly respond to Bonitto’s tweet.

If it was McCutchin that Bonitto was talking about, there is something that would explain why McCutchin would consider the Trojans despite those past issues with the now-defensive staff.

OU cornerbacks coach Roy Manning is going to coach outside linebackers for USC. Donte Williams was retained as the cornerbacks coach for 2022, so McCutchin’s position coach would change.

Having said that, McCutchin hasn’t actually said he’s going to USC though he may have been on an official visit to Los Angeles during this whole Twitter spat.

Just add this spat to the string of pettiness between the Trojans and Sooners. McCutchin and other Oklahoma transfer prospects will eventually figure out where they want to land. Bonitto will be off to the NFL. And USC and Oklahoma will continue to take swipes. It’s the way of college football.
